Akhila Malankara Balasamajam

Introduction

Akhila Malankara Balasamajam is the children's organization of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church. It was organized on an all-Malankara basis in 1982 with the aim of nurturing the spiritual, moral, intellectual, and social development of children within the Church.

Balasamajam focuses on the holistic growth of children by encouraging them to live a Christ-centered life through Worship, Study, and Virtuous Living. It seeks to shape young minds with Christian values and prepare them to become responsible members of both the Church and society.

Objectives

The primary objectives of Akhila Malankara Balasamajam are:

  • To promote worship and active participation in the sacramental life of the Church.
  • To encourage the study of the Holy Bible, Church traditions, and Church history.
  • To develop moral and spiritual values among children.
  • To foster discipline, leadership, and Christian character.
  • To inspire children to serve society through a life guided by Christian principles.
  • To strengthen the relationship of children with the Church and its ministries.

Activities

Through its various programs and activities, Balasamajam encourages the all-round development of children. Members are guided to:

  • Study the Holy Bible and understand its teachings.
  • Learn the traditions, faith, and history of the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church.
  • Draw inspiration from the lives of saints and spiritual leaders of the Church.
  • Participate actively in Sunday School classes and Church services.
  • Develop a strong spiritual and moral foundation for their future lives.

The examples of saints and faithful servants of the Church help children cultivate values such as faith, obedience, humility, compassion, and service to others.

Membership

Every child between the ages of 5 and 15 years is eligible to become a member of Akhila Malankara Balasamajam.
